  • Local primary and high Schools
  • Mona Vale Hospital
  • Local surf clubs
  • Cure Cancer Australia
  • The Coastal Environment Centre

Palliative Care Centre

Our club's community focus in 2011-12 is the Palliative Care Centre at Mona Vale Hospital. The Centre provides vital medical, practical and spiritual support for people with a life-limiting illness and their families. Our goal is to raise funds to help provide an essential expansion and modernisation of the Centre's facilities. We have arranged for Avalon's Jensen Design and Architecture to donate valuable professional services toward this project.

On September 7, 2011 we presented our annual Northern Beaches Spring Concert, a major classical concert with the Northern Beaches Orchestra in a program of light classics. Visit our concert page for more details! And for a selection of photos from the concert, see here.

What is Palliative Care?

Palliative Care

Palliative Care is care provided for people of all ages who have a life-limiting illness with little or no prospect of cure and for whom the primary treatment goal is quality of life.

What is the Mona Vale Hospital Palliative Care Centre?

The Palliative Care Centre works to improve the quality of life of people of all ages with such illnesses and to support their families. The Centre operates out of a small building (The Cottage) on the grounds of Mona Vale Hospital, providing palliative care services to Northern Beaches families.

If you've ever had a family member with a life-threatening illness, you know how important it is to have professional support to navigate this difficult and challenging time. That is why we support this vital community resource and why we are donating the major proceeds from our concert towards extensions and improvements to the Cottage facility. (Photo: HammondCare.)

This brief video, produced by Pittwater Rotary, gives an outline of the Centre and its services.

More Club Community Projects

Our club organises the annual Christmas Carols in the Park in Mona Vale Village Park in early December, a popular community celebration that has become the highlight of the Northern Beaches holiday season. Carols 2011 was held on Saturday 10 December. See our slide show here.

Every January 26 we feed thousands at Newport Beach at the Australia Day festivities.&ampampnbsp

We manage the Tree of Joy at the Warriewood Shopping Centre. We send Christmas gifts given by the community to local families in need.

Every year we help the Salvation Army in its annual Red Shield Appeal.

There are more exciting Pittwater Rotary projects, including our Pride of Workmanship Awards, RYDA (Rotary Youth Driver Awareness) for year 11 students and Rotary youth personal development training programs.

Please contact us if you know of any other ways in which the Rotary Club of Pittwater can support the Pittwater community.
